Warcraft III is an awesome game if you ask me, it is incredibly diverse and i have played the game for hours, if not days! Its basicly a strategy game, and you need to build up your town, workers, units, harvest resources (wood and gold) and destroy the enemy. But its more. What I like about Warcraft III is the fact that there are tower defense maps, which are great for lan party’s or playing online using hamachi or something like that.
You really should get this game because I know you will love it like i love it, especially if you will play Tower Defense. Wanna play a game? Me and Heroin are like expert on some maps, just like with starcraft TD maps and we are always up for a good game! so just let us know!
Warcraft III Wiki description
Warcraft III takes place on a map of varying size, such as large plains and fields, with terrain features like rivers, mountains, seas, or cliffs. In Campaign mode, the map is initially covered with the Black Mask, a dark layer which obscures the landscape beneath until it is explored. The Black Mask, once gone, is permanently removed. Areas that have been explored but no longer are within sight range of an allied unit or building are covered with the fog of war. Though terrain remains visible, changes such as enemy troop movements and building construction are unseen.
During a game, players must establish settlements to gain resources, defend against other players, and train units to explore the map and attack enemies (computer controlled foes). There are three main resources that are managed in Warcraft III: gold, lumber, and food. The first two are required to construct units and buildings, while food restricts the maximum number of units the player may control at one time.

Additional Information
Battle.net is not supported, you can play online using eurobattle of garena. LAN play works fine too as long as you use different CD-keys for each installation. LAN gaming can be done using Hamachi.
Tower Defense
So the best part of this game is Tower Defense (TD) over lan if you ask me. it is just incredibly fun to do! and a real time filler.
We have several TD walktroughs for warcraft III maps here, just use the search right from the menu bar.
There are several TD map packages. We usually look at: http://warcraft-maps.com for our maps.
Final Words
Alright, so you should have successfully installed Warcraft III with expansions by now, and you should get right to the playing part, have fun with it! Make sure you also play TD maps as often as you can because they are just great!
However, maybe you did not successfully install the game and might experience errors, in those case post your problem so we can help finding a solution for it!

One of the contemporary trends I have observed about Warcraft III (WCIII) is that most people who play Warcraft III have moved on to play multiplayer custom maps such as Defence of the Ancients (DotA – IceFrog) and Tower Defence (TD) maps like YouTD (eeve), Castle Fight, and Role-Playing Games (RPGs) like Final Fantasy ORPG and the like.
). I hope you will enjoy playing WCIII because it’s been one of the most memorable games I have ever played.
Most of the players play hosted games on servers like U.S West, Lordaeron, but you can find private Battle.Net servers. Two of the prominent ones in the Oceania region (e.g Australia) are Bored Aussies and AUS-1. Both require invitations for registration (PM me if you want a key
For international games, and Free to Play (F2P) servers, try Garena. It’s servers number in the hundreds, and tens of thousands of players play in low latency rooms (due to tunneling and synchronisation). I think Garena is a framework that caters for Starcraft (SC), Diablo, WCIII and other game clients also. Might be worth checking out if you are interesting in getting involved in the WCIII community.
If you find DotA more interesting than melee games, you can search the SetupSwarm (SS) forums for Heroes of Newerth (HoN). However, It will not be F2P once it gets out of its BETA stage. HoN specifically targets DotA players and is endorsed by MyMYM and owned by S2Games. The only issue I have is the point ranking system.
