Nice review, Heroin.

Additional notes on game-play
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For new players, I'd suggest using your tower-builder to harvest lumber (right-click on a tree) so that you can gain the resources required to build towers. A combination of anti-air at mid, splash towers (particularly elves), and high-speed attacking towers (archers/naga) makes a robust defence against the waves of monsters that come each level.

It's probably better to save up and upgrade towers rather than a "mass production" approach. The monsters spawned have different armour settings that you should be aware of to evaluate your tower defence strategy.

The use of heroes to defend the inner sanctum/base is useful because some heroes have global skills. One example is the night-elf hero, but you can simply purchase skills to use. The fundamental abilities I have found is the "tranquility" for healing heroes (30 seconds), tankers with Area of Effect (AoE) abilities and ranged units with a focus on anti-air attacks.

When the boss comes (the MVP that has been sending you the waves of monsters), tranquility will be necessary to save money on purchasing healing potions. Money is scarce as you progress into the game with money better spent on equipment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bugs? Just one, where the boss spawns in the inner base for no reason and gets owned by your heroes (he deals no damage). I think the fountain healing enemy units as well as your heroes is a feature of the game to complicate the process of forming strategies. This way, heroes cannot simply barricade themselves around the fountain and slowly kill monsters.
