I'd only recommend sending money to the grey player if you trust the defender to send the money back after each round. While my memory of the Warhammer 40,000 TD has been not updated in years, I believe that you can build an "ultimate tower" for your race, but I am confused about the "Elder towers" that you noted above. Were they modified in the new release to allow upgrades? I always considered them to be Over-Powered (OP) since most races with medium strength anti-air (chaos dmg) towers end up owning air in the late-game phase.
